Brīvības iela 58 (1906.)

Architect: Aleksandrs Vanags

Apartment house with shops belonged to Latvian entrepreneur, publisher and actor Jānis Brigaders. The building was the first independent work of architect Aleksandrs Vanags who later became the most renowned architect of National Romanticism. The finish of dark grey façades stands out due to relief structures of materials. The building is belted by a wide zigzag frieze in the shape of Latvian ethnographic ornaments beneath the cornice. Entrance portal is also adorned by ethnographic motifs. Currently, various offices are located in the building.
